Choirs of Chorale Midwest
Chorale Midwest
Chorale Midwest is composed of singers from select high school students in their teens to members in their 80s who all share a love of choral music! The chorale typically has around 65 members. This year marks a true achievement - there are an equal number of male and female voices in the choir for the first time in its history. This creates a unique sound and enables us to sing choral music with incredible balance and sound.
Our founding core members have been with Chorale Midwest since their first performance in 1998. Our membership includes many music teaching professionals and other skilled musicians boasting a range of experience. Chorale Midwest has been under the direction of Dr. Bradley T. Barrett for over 20 years, and our years together provide a unique understanding and quality of sound.
Chorale Midwest Chamber Singers
The Chorale Midwest Chamber Singers is an auditioned group of Chorale Midwest members. As a smaller group of about 30 members, the Chamber singers tackle increasingly complex music spanning the Middle Ages to 21st-century modern composers under the direction of Dr. Bradley T. Barrett.
After Five Jazz Choir
The vocal jazz ensemble dubbed “After Five Jazz” is an 8- to 10-member ensemble, led by Elizabeth Mueller, that loves jazz music's smooth sounds and focuses primarily on a capella vocal jazz literature. After Five Jazz works with a full sound system and individual microphones for each performer.
Some previous repertoire performed includes Voice Dance IV by Greg Jasperse, Words and The World For Christmas by Anders Edenroth, But Not For Me and Over The Rainbow arranged by Yumiko Matsuoka, and Yesterday as performed by the Swingle Singers.
Elizabeth Mueller not only directs After Five; she sings and also arranges some of the music the group performs.
Members of the Chorale, their families and friends had a wonderful time in New York City, seeing the sites and rehearsing for hours in preparation for our concert in Carnegie Hall Monday, March 13, 2023!
We sang Elaine Hagenburg's Illuminare in a combined choir of about 250 singers under the director James Rodde. Chorale Midwest performed its own set under the direction of Bradley T Barrett - resulting in a standing ovation!
